Library Resources

Author Check | Author Check is a library service enabling you to create a list of your favorite authors that are currently available in the MPLD library catalog. You will receive an email notice as soon as the library orders a new title by one of your authors, with a link into the catalog to place your own hold.

eBooks | An explanation of how to download eBooks from Overdrive for various devices. Especially for MPLD patrons.

Overdrive | Download digital audiobook and eBook titles of popular fiction and non-fiction, teen’s titles and children’s books. Especially for MPLD patrons.

NextReads | Are you looking for a few good books to read? Sign up for our e-newsletters and get great book suggestions by email.

New Book Alerts | New Book Alerts is a free online service that showcases the newest titles by the MPLD library. You can select to receive alerts via email and/or RSS feeds. If you see a new title that you are interested in, just click "check catalog" to place a hold on the item right away.

NoveList  | A comprehensive reading resource for fiction and nonfiction for adult readers. Find author readalikes or search for your next read by author, title, series, or use the advanced search. Especially for MPLD patrons.

hoopla | Borrow comics, ebooks, eaudiobooks, movies, music and television shows instantly with your library card and the hoopla app. Titles steam automatically and are returned at the end of the lending period.

Voices of Vision Talking Book Center | Part of a statewide and national network of libraries that provide the talking book and braille service. The service is administered locally by the DuPage Library System.

 

 

Book Discussion Groups

The adult book discussion groups are for patrons ages 18 & up. The selected books can be checked out at the Checkout Desk ahead of the scheduled discussion.

Mystery Book Discussion Group | Meets at 7 p.m. the 1st Thursday of each month at the library. For dates and titles, click here.

Contemporary Book Discussion Group | Meets at 7 p.m. the 2nd Monday of each month at the library. For dates and titles, click here.

Classic Literature Book Discussion Group | Meets at 7 p.m. the 3rd Monday of each month at the library. For dates and titles, click here.

 

 

Book Clubs | We have created a set of Book Club Kits for patrons to check out. Search our catalog using the search term "book club kit" to see the list of titles. The kits contain 10 paperback copies of the book, a resource guide for starting a Book Club, information on the specific title as well as a set of discussion questions.
